Cadolto to erect care centre at hospital ‘Krankenhaus 14 Nothelfer’ in the southern German town of Weingarten
The innovative pilot care project Regional Geriatric Emergency Care Centre (GeriNoVe) will be launched in Weingarten on 1 January 2019 as part of a cooperation between Klinikum Friedrichshafen and the Liebenau Foundation. The Innovation Fund of the German Federal Government is releasing €4.6m towards the three-year project. Cadolto was chosen to construct the modular-design and single-storey care centre, which measures 750 m² in size.
The new Regional Geriatric Emergency Care Centre is about establishing an exclusive care ward for elderly people, outside the normal hospital environment. Specialist nursing staff will care for and look after senior citizens who do not necessarily need to be treated in hospital as inpatients. The location of the project is hospital ‘Krankenhaus 14 Nothelfer’ in Weingarten.
The new build will be linked to the existing hospital building via a connecting walkway. This ensures that patients can receive quick medical care whenever necessary. The extension is to be erected on a foundation provided by the customer. The planned building consists of thirteen modules, which sit on a steel sub-structure.
The first modules were produced at the factory in Thuringia at the beginning of September before being delivered to the construction site by special transporters. The new care centre should be completed by the start of 2019. The first patients will be treated on the special ward from July 2019 onwards.
